WAEC & JAMB UTME Subject for Education and Computer Science

Are you interested in studying Education and Computer Science at a university in Nigeria?

If so it’s important to pay attention to the following information.

In this blog post, we have compiled the WAEC & JAMB UTME subject requirements for Education and Computer Science, as well as a list of universities in Nigeria offering this program.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination for Education and Computer Science:

To apply for Education and Computer Science in a higher institution, you must meet the JAMB requirements. One of the requirements is to score at least 180, although aiming for 200 and above will give you a better chance of admission. The JAMB subject combination for Education and Computer Science includes:

  1. Physics
  2. Mathematics
  3. One of the following: Biology, Geography, or Chemistry

Please note that some universities may have specific subject requirements or waivers. Here are a few examples:

  • IAUED requires Economics.
  • BOWEN does not accept Geography/Physics.
  • LASU accepts Chemistry.
  • DELSU accepts Economics, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • TASUED requires Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.
  • BSU requires Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject among Chemistry, Biology, Geography, or Economics.

WAEC Subject Requirements for Education and Computer Science:

In addition to the JAMB requirements, you must also meet the WAEC subject requirements for Education and Computer Science. You need to have at least five credit passes in the following subjects:

  1. Use of English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Physics
  4. Any two other Science subjects

Here are some specific considerations and waivers for WAEC subject requirements:

  • LASU accepts ‘O’ Level credit passes in Chemistry and Physics.
  • IBBU prefers other subjects in the Sciences.
  • OOU and BU accept ‘O’ Level credit pass in Physics.
  • BIU requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in Physics plus any other two Science subjects.
  • UNIPORT requires an ‘O’ Level credit pass in Chemistry or Physics.
  • IAUE requires an ‘O’ Level credit pass in Use of English Language.
  • BSU accepts 5 ‘O’ Level credit passes, which must include Mathematics, Physics, English Language, Biology, and Chemistry.
  • LCU requires credit ‘O’ Level passes in Physics, Use of English Language, Maths, and any other two subjects.
  • TASUED accepts 5 ‘O’ Level credit passes at one sitting or 6 ‘O’ Level credit passes at two sittings. The subjects include Use of English Language, Physics, Maths, plus any two or three subjects from Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Agricultural Science, and Geography.
  • DELSU requires 5 ‘O’ Level credit passes in Use of English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and one more subject at not more than two sittings.

Requirements for Direct Entry:

If you are considering Direct Entry instead of UTME, you must meet specific requirements. These typically include having two ‘A Level’ passes, with Physics or Chemistry being a common requirement. However, there may be waivers and alternative qualifications depending on the university. Here are a few examples:

  • ATBU requires an NCE pass plus five years of teaching experience.
  • EKSU accepts a pass in General English in lieu of ‘O’ Level English Language and NCE merit in Computer.
  • OOU requires ND/NCE credit in relevant programs.
  • LASU requires ‘A’ Level passes in Physics and Mathematics or NCE at merit in Computer Education or Mathematics and Physics.
  • IAUE requires 2 ‘A Level’ passes/NCE in Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science. They also accept ND/HND credit in Statistics, Computer Science, Electronics/Accounting, and Information Technology.
  • TASUED requires 2 ‘A Level’ passes in Physics or Mathematics, Chemistry.
  • EBSU accepts ‘A Level’ passes in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer, Integrated Science, or Mathematics. They also accept HND and NCE/OND with a minimum of Merit and Upper credit, respectively.
  • BU accepts ‘A Level/ND/IJMB/NCE or their approved equivalents in Physics and Mathematics.
