O’Level Subjects & Admission Requirements:

Both direct entry and UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) candidates applying to study Education and Physics must meet specific O’Level requirements. The minimum requirement is five (5) SSC credit passes in the following subjects:

  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Physics
  4. Two (2) other Science subjects or NTC/NBC

Special Considerations and Waivers:

  • GOMSU accepts D7 in English Language.
  • UMYU and IAUE require five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any other two (2) subjects, preferably Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography/Physics, and Biology.
  • MAUTECH accepts ‘O’ Level pass in English Language or a pass in NCE or TC II General English.
  • LCU accepts ‘O’ Level credit passes in Physics, Mathematics, English Language, and any other two (2) Science subjects.
  • UNIBEN requires two (2) other Science subjects, one (1) of which must be either Chemistry/Agricultural Science/Biology/Further Mathematics.
  • OAU expects candidates to present five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes, including Mathematics, Physics, English Language, and two (2) other subjects, one (1) of which should be Agricultural Science or Chemistry or Biology or Additional Further Mathematics.
  • UNIJOS doesn’t require Integrated Science.
  • ABU accepts TC II merit.
  • TASUED accepts six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at two (2) sittings or five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one (1) sitting. The subjects should include English Language, Physics, Mathematics, and any other three (3) or two (2) subjects from Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Computer Science, and Agricultural Science.
  • UNIUYO requires a credit pass in Chemistry and may also accept a D7 in English Language.
  • AAUA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Physics, Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, and any of Biology or Agricultural Science.
  • UNILAG accepts ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics, and any one (1) of Further Mathematics, Biology, Agricultural Science, Computer Science/Data Processing, Integrated Science.
  • GOMSU accepts ‘O’ Level credit pass in Chemistry.
  • IMS and BU accept ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics/Further Mathematics and Chemistry.
  • KSU requires the two (2) other subjects from Biology, Agricultural Science, Social Sciences, Chemistry, and Economics.
  • LASU accepts ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics and English Language.
  • DELSU requires at least five (5) SSC ‘O’ Level credit passes in Physics, English Language, Mathematics, and two (2) other relevant science or social science subjects.
  • UNIOSUN requires the other two (2) subjects to include Geography and any other relevant science subjects.

JAMB Subject Combination and Requirements:

For UTME candidates, English Language is compulsory. The remaining three (3) JAMB subject combinations for Education and Physics are as follows:

  1. Physics
  2. Mathematics or Chemistry
  3. Any one (1) other subject

Special Considerations and Waivers:

  • UNIBEN requires Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry or Biology.
  • AAUA requires Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.
  • IAUE requires the other subjects to include any of Geography, Chemistry, or Biology.
  • UNIMAID accepts Physics and any two (2) Science Subjects.
  • UNIBEN and OAU require Mathematics, Physics, and any other Science subject.
  • FUAM requires Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • DELSU accepts Mathematics and any other Social Science/Arts/Science subjects.
  • UNILAG requires Mathematics/Chemistry, Physics, and one (1) of Agricultural Science or Biology.
  • MAUTECH requires Mathematics, Physics, and any one (1) of Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Geography.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements:

Direct entry candidates must meet specific requirements for admission to Education and Physics programs. The following qualifications are accepted:

  1. Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and Physics.
  2. NCE credit/merit in relevant subjects.

Special Considerations and Waivers:

  • UNICAL accepts ND from recognized institutions.
  • IMSU requires NCE merit into a two (2)-year program and less than merit into a three (3)-year program. They also require a pass in English Language.
  • UNILAG accepts very good passes in three (3) JUPEB subjects, including Chemistry, Physics, and any one (1) of Mathematics or Biology. They also accept two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and Physics. NCE credit/merit in Physics and one (1) of Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry is also accepted.
  • OAU requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Physics and any other Science subject, or NCE with credit/merit in any relevant teaching subject in combination with Physics. NCE in Auto-mechanic is also eligible.
  • DELSU requires merit passes and above in Physics and either Chemistry or GCE ‘A’ Level passes, including Physics or Education at NCE. They also accept Diploma (DELSU).
  • UNIUYO accepts candidates without NCE or ‘A’ Level Mathematics but requires them to take remedial classes in the subject at the 100 level.
  • UNIJOS accepts NCE General English.
  • BUK requires NCE merit in Physical Health Education with any two (2) Science subjects.
  • SSU requires NCE passes in two (2) relevant subjects or a double major subject in addition to the UTME requirements. They also accept IJMB passes in two (2) relevant subjects or ND/HND credit in any relevant program into 100 levels.
  • BSU accepts NCE at the merit level.
  • FUAM requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Physics and any of the following: Further Mathematics, Biology, Technical Drawing, or Geology. They also accept ND upper credit in the relevant program plus UTME requirements.
  • LASU accepts NCE Technical with merit in relevant subjects.
  • UNIBEN requires three (3) or two (2) merits in NCE, including Physics, and three (3) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Physics, and Mathematics at one (1) sitting.
  • EKSU accepts General English at NCE in place of ‘O’ Level credit pass in English Language.
  • UMYU requires ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and Physics. They also accept credit or merit in NCE.
  • RSUST accepts any Science subject as the third (3rd) subject.
  • TASUED accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and Physics or NCE merit in two (2) core related subjects. They also accept ND/HND upper credit in Physicsand Electronics.
  • AAUA accepts three (3) merits at NCE in Education and two (2) other relevant teaching (Science) subjects.
  • BU accepts ND/NCE/IJMB/’A’ Level or approved equivalents in Physics and Mathematics.
  • ATBU accepts NCE pass with five (5) years of teaching experience.
